Murasame

Murasame is the signature confection of Shiogo Co., Ltd., carefully preserved and crafted for over 170 years in Kaizuka, Osaka.
Murasame is a traditional Japanese sweet made by blending finely sieved red bean paste with rice flour and sugar, mixing them into delicate granules by hand, and placing the granules into wooden molds to form bars that are then gently steamed.
Though modest in appearance—a simple brown bar with red undertones—Murasame offers a refined experience: a gentle, flaky texture that falls softly on the palate; the satisfying body of rice flour; the fragrant aroma of carefully selected red beans and rice; and a delicate, understated sweetness. Made from only three ingredients—red beans, rice flour, and sugar—and free from preservatives or additives, Murasame is freshly steamed each morning to ensure its pure, just-made flavor.
Like a passing shower that falls softly and disappears, Murasame features a fleeting yet beautiful taste and leaves a lingering afterglow. We invite you to savor the quiet elegance of this traditional Japanese confection.

Note
Murasame is a fresh steamed confection. Because it is completely additive-free, its shelf life is only 3 days from the date of production. Murasame is prone to spoil in the summer and harden in the winter, so please enjoy it as soon as possible.
For Longer Storage
For storage past the best-by date, please rewrap Murasame in its transparent cellophane to keep it from drying out and store it in the freezer. We do not recommend refrigerating, as the starch can become firm and unpleasant.
When you wish to enjoy your Murasame, remove it from the freezer and thaw at room temperature while keeping it wrapped in its transparent cellophane. After thawing, it may feel slightly firm or dry if eaten as is. For the best texture, unwrap it and then either steam it for about 2 minutes or rewrap it in microwave-safe plastic and heat it for about 30 seconds in the microwave.
Enjoy immediately while warm, before it cools and hardens again.
